Position Summary:

As our Design & Engineering Supervisor, you will be leading the design team and helping them achieve their goals, pushing for high-quality designs with fast turn times and offering support and guidance. You will focus on the growth and success of your people through training, creating and implementing improved processes where needed. You will utilize the experience and input of your team to make improvements and incorporate their feedback into your strategy. You will collaborate with other supervisors and teams to ensure seamless operations throughout the design and engineering process.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design auditing and review process to ensure accuracy and quality output
  • Lead and assist designers to establish attainable goals to reduce cycle times
  • Serving as the subject matter expert in electrical and PV design, answering questions and conducting trainings for designers in your region as needed
  • Maintain the design queue and ensuring the design team has the resources to meet their goals
  • Execute designs that adhere to grid compliance and permitting requirements
  • Audit “send-backs” and AHJ and utility corrections in order to minimize project turn times
  • Maintain design compliance by referencing structural, electrical and fire codes
  • Perform accurate system sizing calculations
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create and implement SOPs
  • Provide feedback and additional support as needed
  • Encourage and direct dedicated team members to utilize process tools and checklist(s)
  • Enhance the quality and accuracy of pre-submittal design check process
  • Assist with additional tasks as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • 3 years of experience working as a Solar Designer
  • 2 years of experience in experience in AutoCAD or similar software
  • 1 year of experience in a leadership role
  • 1 year of experience in training
  • Ability to lead a large team geographically dispersed
  • Thorough knowledge of NetSuite
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Design Process
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong attention to detail in order to support the intricate design of solar systems
  • Possess extensive knowledge of electrical, layout, and clerical aspects of residential designs
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, but not required
  • NABCEP Design Certification a plus
